No new story this time. It started as a small UI cleanup and kind of got out of hand — every time I fixed one screen, the one next to it looked old, so I ended up redoing almost everything you click on.
New dialogue box
Choice cards
Labelled town map
New tutorial
22px text on phones
The stuff I'm happiest with
- The dialogue box: new font, cleaner look, and your character's thoughts get their own card, so you're never guessing if he said it or just thought it
- Choice cards: pick with the number keys, and choices you already took are marked
- The town map has a label on every building and shows who's where, with a ring when her story is ready there
- A real tutorial that walks you through the HUD, instead of four static pictures
- The phone got a new home screen, text pop-ups, and you reply by tapping a chip
- Every note on the notice boards can be opened and read now
- You sign a tenancy agreement when you pick your name
Also redone
- Save/Load, Preferences, Help and the popups
- History, now a timeline by day that shows your choices
- The HUD (with a night look), the room bar and the backpack
- The minigame screens and the speed controls in animated scenes
- The loading screen — Android finally has one too
If you play on phone: all text is at least 22px now, and menus don't run off the screen anymore.
And a couple of fixes
- Resetting Lights Out during a bet was free. It costs the bet now
- One of Carmen's scenes had a Slower button that did nothing. Fixed
Some of you told me getting around the game was a pain, and that's a big part of why I did all this. Tell me what you think of the new look, good or bad.
